There is no mention of that in any existing Icelandic church records. Nireover, there is no mention of any Tofte in any Icelandic church records prior to 1801. However - the church records here are rather incomplete prior to 1785, so that lack of information really does not tell you much.

It is, however, interesting to note that Jens Severin Tofte can both be found in the 1801 census in Denmark and in Iceland. The most likely explanation is that the censuses were taken at different times in the year, and that he went to Iceland in the fall of 1801.
