Jóhannes Ólafsson was born in Garða-parish on November 6th, 1828, the son of an unmarried couple: Ólafur Ólafsson (1806-1883) and Elísabet Sigmundsdóttir (1805-1868).
Jóhannes had 7 maternal half siblings (4 from his mother's first marriage, and 3 from her second), and 3 paternal half-siblings (2 from his father's marriage, and one born to another woman while Ólafur was married).
Here is a chart showing the names of Jóhannes' ancestors for the first few generations.

At the time of the 1860 census, Kristjana (not "Krisjana") was living with her parents, but later she disappears from the records - she probably died young.
