I first found my great grandfather, Thorkell in the 1881 England census, he stated that he was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, and his occupation was a Baker. In later census he says he was from Iceland. He married his first wife, a Janet Lawson Watson (Scottish descent) in March 1884, on his marriage certificate, he has his father as Thorkell Clements (deceased). He and Janet, had three boys, my grandfather John Thorkell Clements, Alexander Spalding Watson Clements and Eirike Magnusson Clements. He died in London on the 13 January, 1911.
You mention that his father had returned to Iceland by 1880 did you find him and his family on the census? Does Thorkell Jon have any siblings?
