I just noticed something interesting.Ólafur Loftsson from Hlíðarendi left his wife, Anna Þórunn Hjálmarsdóttirand son behind in Iceland when he emigrated.His son, Hjálmar, was born in 1887.He eventually emigrated in 1906 and joined his father in Churchbridge, but moved to Foam lake in 1944.
I cannot help but wonder if Ólafur Loftsson was a bigamist....
As for Guðrún Pálsdóttir - the problem is that "Guðrún" is the single most common female name in Iceland in the 19th century, and there are several candidates born around 1868, but none "obvious".I will look further tomorrow.
