Jon -

Thank you very much for the sources. I should have thought to try the Ancestry site, but I was too accustomed to using the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish sites for census and other documents as a beginning.

Once I went to your suggested sites, I found a large amount of valuable information on the Gislason family that will be of interest to my friend. After that, my biggest problem was setting up my Icelandic keyboard, so I could use the alphabet where appropriate.

I will give the information on the underthemountain site to my friend. Unfortunately, he is resistant to computers, but this may give his wife some ammunition in changing that. Now, I have to do some work on his Norwegian ancestors that married Gislasons.

I might even find a link between his ancestors and my ancestors that reportedly went to Ireland and Iceland, but the reliabilty of the reords is questionable and depends on stories and the sagas.

Again, - Jon, thank you very much for the assistance on my project.

Dick
