I am attempting to help my friend find his ancetry. He has some good information, but also some voids typical when it comes to female ancestors. His grandfather was John Bjorn Gislason (b.12/1872 in Iceland) His grandmother was Lecta, who he married 11/13/1895 in Minnesota. Lecta's records are the following: 1. According to U.S. social Security records, she was born 25 Feb 1875 and died Dec., 1972. 2. The 1930 Census lists her as born about 1875 in Iceland, and living in Westerheim, Lyon co., Minnesota. 3.The 1920 Census lists her as born about 1875 in Iceland. 4. The 1910 Census lists her as immigrating in about 1880 and living in Westerheim, Lyon Co., Minnesota. 5. The 1900 Census lists hes as immigrating in 1878 and living on Westerheim, Lyon co., Minnesota. At that time, she had 2 children, both of which were alive. Note: Some of the early census records variously list the birth location as Ireland, Denmark, buthey probably interned it to be Iceland (spelling, reading and interpretation errors). I cannot find a link back to Iceland. During her immigration, she may have not been listed in the 1880 census or she may have not immigrated directly to Minnesota. I have limited access to Icalandic records, especially without a birth place, although I have a reported birth date. Are there any on-line sources similar to the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish records? Than you for any assistance. Dick Notify Administrator about this message?
