Adalsteinn Jónsson who died 8th of May 1918 emigrated in 1887 from Vidvik in Skagafjordur, the son of Jon Steinsson (1828-1871) and Gudrun Nikulasdottir (1822-1883). He was born 15 July 1861 in the parish of Knappsstađir in Skagafjordur.
According to the newspaper Lögberg (16 May 1918, page 8) Adalsteinn, who lived at that time at the household of Halldor Kernested, was laying nets in Lake Winnipeg together with Vigfus Arason, when the boat sank and Adalsteinn drowned. Adalsteinn was a single man.
Adalsteinn Jónsson, the bankier, who has been mentioned here, was born 23 Aug 1860. He lived in Gardar, N.-Dakota.
