First, in answer to your second question, the father of Magnús would have been Brynjólfur(something).
Can you provide more info. You say you found Magnus in the 1911 census for Ontario. Where did you find him, and under what name? Was he married at that time and where their children?
You also say you have a marriage certificate, who did he marry, and when did he marry?
Do you have a death date for Magnus?
Can you provide more info on this "relation" Thordur?
I did find a possible Magnus Brynjolfsson who left Iceland in 1887 bound for Milwaukee Wisconsin. But without more info, cannot say if this is him.
