This needs a little correction.
The people Magnus mention, Jón Jónasson and Guðný Sigurðardóttir, became members of the LDS Church and emigrated in 1886 to Utah and settled down in Spanish Fork.
The people Arlan seeks, Jón Jónasson and Guðný Sigurðardóttir, emigrated in 1874 from Nýibær in Saurbæjarhreppur, Eyjafjarðarsýsla with four children, Guðlaug, Guðríður, Guðrún and Vilhelmína onboard St. Patrick to Ontario.
Sigríður's parents were, as Arlan obviously knows, Sigurður Árnason and Hólmfríður Stefánsdóttir and Jón's parents were Jónas Guðmundsson (22 Aug 1803-20 May 1872) and his first wife Guðlaug Jónsdóttir (26 Oct 1795-1 July 1862) farmers at Jódísarstaðir in Eyjafjarðarsýsla.
Guðný Sigurðardóttir died in Vídir, New Iceland, 98 years old at the home of her daughter Guðrún and Jón, - I think he is the one mentioned in Almanak 1899 page 78, carpenter who died 2 July 1898.
Guðný Sigurðardóttir had been married before she married Jón Jónasson, her first husband´s name was - Jón Jónasson - yes so it was, he was born 1801, died 1859.
Regards, "see" you next week :-)
