Thank you for your response. I am having a difficult time tracing my direct line to Frederick. My great grandfather was David Marshall Ice. His children are Gail, Grant, Ethel, Carol, and Doris. Gail is my grandfather and he married Betty Zearott and had three sons, George, Gail and Ronald. Obviously, Gail would be my father. What comes before David Marshall? Every family tree I have seen regarding my line of the family has been incomplete or missing completely. Also, I have read that we are also related to the famous painter Jan van Eyck. Is there any truth to that?
