Lynette,

There is a tradition in the Ice family that Mary Ice was the mother of Tecumseh. In Franklin Miller's book, The Mellett and Hickman Families of Henry County, Indiana, Vol. I, p.140-41, he cites supporting evidence as reported by a descendent of Frederick Ice's second marriage. Miller also refers to the unpublished journal of Stephen Ruddell, a Shawnee prisoner for almost twenty years. Ruddell reportedly taught Tecumseh to speak English. His journal might lend some clues in you rsearch for info on Jeremiah Kendall.

Hope this helps.

Fred Mann
