Bill,
My family goes back to William "Indian Billy" Ice. I have his middle name as Galloway. He had a son Aden Bales Ice who was born in 1803 and was raised by his older married sister, Margaret Ice Bales. Aden had a son, Isaac born in 1827. Isaac had a daughter, Minerva who was born in 1857 and she married Jonas Miller. Jonas and Minerva had a daughter Ethel who was my grandmother. She was born in 1900.
In the book "Upper Monongahelia Valley", we read, "The original ancestor of all of the name of Ice, so far as can be learned in the United States, was Fredericke Ice, a Hollander, who came to the United States from Amsterdam about the middle of the eighteenth century."
If you e-mail me your address, I will send you what I have on that book. Also, Henry Smith wrote a book called "Itinerant" in which he records Daddy Ice coming to a circuit church on horseback at over 100 years of age.
