I'm not sure if this is the same family or not. My mother used to work for a Jay Brockway (wife Inez) in Sioux City, Iowa.

They owned a drug store in Morningside, in Peters Park, right on Morningside Avenue. The name of the business was "Graham's Pharmacy," the previous owner's last name was Graham. My father had worked for the Grahams delivering prescriptions; my mother later did bookkeeping and payroll, etc. for them. When Brockways took over the business she stayed on with them, but left when the Grahams sold out to Don Drilling.

I don't remember a whole lot about this couple. I know that the husband, Jay Brockway, at one time owned a couple of race horses, quarter horses, I think.

I went to their house once - the thing that made the biggest impression on me was an antique fainting couch - I had never seen one before. It was just like something out of an old silent movie!

Inez was the sort of person who was very fond of jewelry, and I don't think I ever saw her without her makeup on or her hair not "done".

They were quite good to my mother, and I wish I could tell you more about them.

If you think these are the folks you're looking for, e-mail me and I'll see if there's someone who can give you a little more information.
