The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, July 2, 1908 MR. JOSEPH WALKER, an old time neighbor and citizen, came to his death at the ripe old age of 82 years, 9 months and 6 days. He was born in Adams County, Ohio, September 7th, 1825, and called to his Heavenly Home at the residence of his son, AMBROSE WALKER, June 23, 1908. He was united in marriage to MISS CHARLOTTE J. SWANGER Feb. 7, 1850. Eleven children blessed their happy union, two of whom died in infancy, and one, JOHN, died in Ringgold County, Iowa, in l887. MR. and MRS. WALKER moved to Wayne County in 1858, where for 45 years they made their home. Seven years ago they moved to Russell, Iowa, there MRS. WALKER died Nov. 12, 1903. MR. WALKER received a paralytic stroke several years ago, from which he never recovered, his daughter, INEZ, kept house for him and cared for him until five weeks ago when she was stricken down with appendicitis, and at the time of her father's death and burial was dangerously ill at the home of her sister, JOSEPHINE BROWN. Fifty years ago MR. WALKER was converted and united with the M.E. Church of which he was a faithful member until called to the church triumphant. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wm. M. Leiser, of Bethlehem, charge at the M.E.
