Hello Judith,

I am wondering about Plainview Cemetery and Melinda Shockley..... I am thinking it is really the mother of Sarah Ann Shockley Pritchett, and not a young 6yr old child.
Melinda Shockley lived with Erasmus B. Pritchett and Sarah Ann in the 1880 Census, and she was 57 yrs then. That coincides with the Nathaniel Walton and Mary Magdoline McDaniels family bible record, of birth date for Melinda of June 6, 1823.
She married Enoch Shockley in Freeport, Stephenson Co.IL March 17, 1847...he died in 1849. It appears that widowed Melinda goes to Warren Co. IA, following her father and grown siblings, Thompson Walton and Elizabeth Walton Goode.
Perhaps you can suggest a way to an obituary for Melinda would help alot. Thankyou Judith.
