The fourth child of Francis and Arah (Hall) Read was William Read, born 1813; married 1st 13 November 1833 Nancy SAYRE who was born 29 June 1817 daughter of Jedediah and Elizabeth (Weaver) Sayre.
Nancy Read probably died before 1846, and William married 2nd, 15 January 1846 Sarah ( ) ROBINSON before they left the West Virginia area. One surviving daughter of William and Nancy's marriage was a daughter, Elizabeth, who married a Boylen. William and Sarah had several children.

I would like to know (1) when Nancy died; (2) where she was buried; (3) Sarah’s maiden name, birth and death dates; and (4) any information about the daughters Cassandra (b. 1838); Arah (b. 1841) and Matilda (b. 1843).

1850 Taylor County, (West) Virginia Census
William Reed (b. about 1813)
Sarah ( ) (Robinson) Reed, b. about 1819.
Elizabeth, b. about 1835 probably d/o Wm. and Nancy; m. Boylen.
       Cassandra, b. about 1838.
       Arah, b. about 1841.
Matilda, b. about 1843.       (William and Sarah m. in 1846)
       Francis, b. about 1846.
       Rebecca, b. about 1848.
       Emmy Robinson, b. about 1842.
I believe William and family left this area about 1856 (probably to Iowa).

I was informed some years ago that the William who married Nancy was from a branch who preferred the spelling "READ". There seems to be several Reed/Read/Reid lines in the West Virginia area that go back at least four or five generations and I don't know if they are from a common ancestor or not. From the same source, I have indication that William was a son of Francis Read, b. 1769 and his second wife, ARAH HALL, daughter of Nathan and Elizabeth (Robinson) Hall, whom he married in Monongalia County 9 September 1808. Francis married 1st in Harrison County 10 April 1800 ANN DAVISSON, daughter of Josiah and Edith (Herring) Davisson. Francis Read died 9 March 1841. Cemetery on Clifford Paugh farm near Lough School House, Pleasant District, Barbour County, West Virginia: “This graveyard has been neglected and monuments lean against fence.” Among those with inscriptions is one “FRANCIS REED, b. 1769; d. 9 March 1841, aged 72 years. According to this source Francis and his children signed their last name Read on documents in the court house.
