I am looking for information about William J. Marks b.abt 1849 and Laura Lucinda(Taylor)Marks b. abt.1850. They were married Oct. 24,1869, Van Buren Co., IA.

Their children were:
Charles b. abt 1870 m. Amelia/Emelia
Anna b. abt 1872
Leonard b. abt 1875
Lena b. abt 1875
Lawrence b. abt 1881 m. Pearl Mae Knotts
Jesse/James abt 1883 m. Pearlie Ann Kooken
Harvey b. Unknown

Most children were born in VanBuren Co., IA. By 1895 Laura was left a widow found living in Ft. Madison, Lee Co., IA, with some of her children and Charles's wife Amelia/Emelia, as well as an Annie Marks who is older possibly an Aunt who in previous census was married to Henry Marks(uncle?)

William J Marks at 8 is found in the home of Benjamin Walker as an unrelated household member in the 1856 Iowa State Census and in the 1860 census. He may be an orphan and not too far away is another household with a Mary Marks. Could she be a orphaned sister?

Laura/Lucinda Taylor we believe is the daughter of John and Almeda/Elmeda Taylor, neighbors to Benjamin Walker found in the same township, county in same 1860 census. The next census 1870 Lee/Leroy Taylor ~19 (brother) is living with William J. and (Laura) Lucinda Marks in VanBuren Co., IA.

Family names possibly connected to this family are Marks, Walker, McCune, Stevens, Carter, Graft, Taylor,Reese, Knotts, Roberts, Fields, KooKen, Gunning,Sweet, Harrison, Rathvon, Rumbaugh, Monroe.
