Looking for information regarding Hartley family in Van Buren county and later Scotland County Missouri. No information re: parents. John Hartley was born in Upton, Iowa in 1863. His obit states that he was orphaned early in life and went to live with friends in Scotland County, Mo. I found a possible brother, James age 8, listed as "other" on 1880 US Census for Van Buren County living with the William Webber family. James went on to marry Julia Sibley and they are buried in Clark County, Missouri. Looking for any bits and pieces. Thank you!
