Dear Denise,
I've been trying for years to find some additional information on my gg grandparents, Thomas Hughes and Jane Blair (Hughes) of Lotts Creek Township in Ringgold County. They lived there from about 1853 until Thomas died on January 1, 1900, and they raised 3 generations of Hughes'. Thomas was one of the first 35 men to vote at the first general election of Ringgold County in 1854 and at the time of his death was one of Ringgold County's richest citizens. Thomas was born in 1824 in Pennsylvania ( I don't know where), and his parents were born in Ireland. ( I don't know their names or what city they were born in). My father, Maxwell Francis Hughes, and his brother, Richard Aaron Hughes were the third generation of Hughes' born in Ringgold County.
I do have a typed copy from my uncle Richard Hughes, of the Thomas Hughes' obituary that was printed from the Mount Ayr, Iowa Record-News, published on January 2, 1900. I also have several other family lines, being the Maxwell's, Robertson's and Anderson's that also settled and died in Ringgold County. Thanks, Greg Hughes
