Hi Barbara,
To narrow down the date of Elza's death, I can tell you that in the 1885 census, only Mary A., Flora M. & Kate L. are in the household. (Mary is listed as a widow, so they obviously didn't divorce or separate.) They reside in the same place as they did in 1880.
In 1900, they are indexed as "Zimmerman". Mary A., born July 1839, this time it shows that she & her parents were born in Ohio. Flora M., born July 1865 in Ohio. Kate L., born September 1868 in Iowa. Flora is a Seamstress & Kate is a School Teacher.
