The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa

DELLA RUTH CARROLL, eldest daughter of MR. and MRS. E.E. CARROLL, was born
June 2, 1883, in Monroe County where she resided until eight years of age,
when she moved with her parents to Montezuma, Iowa. She united with the M.E
Church at that place when fourteen years old and has lived a consistent
Christian life. She removed to Chariton in 1898 where she has since resided.
She was married September 23, 1902 to CLEMENT H. KIRKHART. She died
December 28, 1906 at her home in this city, at the age of 23 years, 6 months
and 26 days. She leaves a father, mother, one sister, GRACE, a husband and
two children, CLEMENT, age two and one-half years and an infant daughter, 3
days old, besides a large circle of friends and other relatives to mourn the
loss of a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. The sympathy of
the entire community goes out to the bereaved ones in this their darkest
hour of sorrow.
Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock
conducted by their Pastor, Rev. N. Evans, after which the remains were
tenderly laid to rest in the Chariton Cemetery.
