Terry,

****
From the "Sheridan Township and it's early Citizens 1855-1898, Complied from the files of the Brooklyn Chronicle of June, July and August 1898":

(page 28) John Hoover: John Hoover was born in Pennsylvania in 1826, and here he grew to manhood. In 1845 he was married to Catharine Fraley, who was born in Germany. Leaving Pennsylvania they lived for a few years in Cedar county, Iowa, and located in Sheridan in 1871. To them were born nine children. Four died prior to their coming to Sheridan and in 1873 they lost three children to diphtheria. One daughter, Lydia, married Thomas Scott, lives in Audubon county, and Emma married Wm. Currie, lives in Sheridan. Mrs. Hoover died in 1895, and at
that time the home was broken up. Mr. Hoover now lives with his daughter, Mrs. Currie and still owns his farm.

Good Luck with your search!
