Would like to find out more about this couple and their family.

Henry J. Hughes is the son of Japheth Hughes and Maria Williams. His middle name is John or Japheth. He married Viola Ellen Richards in 1879. The couple can be found on the 1880 census at Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa. It appears that their first children were also born there, Franklin Japheth Hughes 1881, Walter James Hughes 1883, Clarence Evans Hughes 1885.

Their next two children may have been born in Franklin County, Ohio in 1887 and 1889. Both Henry and Viola were from there. Did they return due to ill health or death of some of their parents?

Then it appears their next four children were born in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska in 1891, 1900, 1902. Viola died in Omaha in 1943.

Henry had a sister Jane P. Hughes, born in Ohio in 1865. When she married widowed John Cockle in 1908 at Arborville in York County, Nebraska she listed her residence as Omaha. Did she reside for a time with her brother Henry and family?

Did others of the Hughes family come to Iowa with Henry and Viola? Other sisters he had were Eliza, Margaret, Amanda, Settie, Hannah, Mary Ellen, and Nettie.
