!OBITUARY: Onawa Sentinel, Onawa, Iowa, Thursday, July 29, 1926; OBITUARY OF J.L. McCROY (sic)--- J.L. McCroy was born in Newton of the Willows on November 5, 1844, and died at Kenebec (sic), Iowa, on July 25, 1926, aged 81 years, 8 months and 20 days. He was married at Red Oak, Iowa, on August 25, 1874. Six children were born to this union, three boys and three girls. The boys all preceded their father in death. The girls are Mrs. Bird Archer and Mrs. George Archer of Whiting, and Mrs. Grace Phipps who lives two miles west of Kenebec on his father's farm. The mother, who for near 52 years shared with her husband the joys of married life, lives with Mr. and Mrs. Phipps. Much of the married life of these people has been spent near Castana. Funeral services were conducted from the Castana Community Church by the pastor Wm. Baker on Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in the family burying lot in the Jordan cemetery.
!OBITUARY: Joseph W. McCrory was born in Page county, Iowa, Feb. 17, 1881 and died five miles south of Castana May 5, 1920 at the age of 39 years. He was married Dec. 16, 1903 to Annie Newman. He leaves a wife and five children, Zola, Rachel, Mary, William and Austin; also his mother and father Mr. and Mrs. James L. McCrory, and three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Archer, Mrs. Maude Archer and Mrs. Grace Phipps, all of near Castana, to mourn his loss.
The funeral was held in the Congregational church Friday afternoon, Rev. J.E. Jansen officiating, and he was laid to rest in Kennebec cemetery.
