Ao it seems this Valda was married and divorced very young. I suppose Edgar C. Norton could also have been divorced and then married Valda.
Do you know when and where your Valda died? I found one SSDI entry. Edgar is shown as dying in NY - do you know if your Valda lived in NY during her married life?

I found a site with some Iowa gravestones and I think this link will take you to graves of John J. and Carrie. (with photos)
It also looks like they had a son Ward C. who was born and died 1898. It looks like John died 1918.

OK - I can now tell you that Edgar Norton who married Valda is not the Edgar Norton of Cattaraugus, NY
I wish I had found this first , but there you go.
In same Iowa gravestone site there is a marker or Edgar E. NOrton 1905-1982 and Valda E. 1909-1965 (same stone)

So now I will see if I can figure out who Edgar's parents were.

I haven't had any luck yet in figuring out who Edgar's parents were or where he was born.
I did find a family tree on ancestry for the Higgins which shows Aradine Eelyn Higgins born 1912 Ida grove - parents John Julius Higgins and Carrie Elizabeth Cole
So that matches with the John Julius headstone and now gives a maiden name for Carrie.
Let me know if you want me to look further back in census records for John Julius and for Carrie.
too bad the tree does not show much on Valda and husband other than to show she was married twice and name of second husband as Edgar Norton - no other info on him.
Maybe you could contact the Ida County genealogical society
On their website they say they will do searches for the cost of postage and $ .25 cents a page copying - it looks like they have access to a lot of info - courthouse records, obits, church records, cemetery records and newspaper You might be able to get them to find an obit for Edgar for you which hopefully would have his parents names and names of any children.

In 1930 census there are two Edgar Norton men born about 1905/05
One is in Falls City, NE, born Kansas - in 1920 this same man is listed as Edgar E. Norton
the other is in Rochester, Monroe, NY, born NY - I cannot find him in 1920 and earlier - there is an Edgar Norton born NY about 1900 which may be same fellow I suppose ?
So from this it seems your Edgar E. Norton may be the one born Kansas.

I don't know for sure that this is the right Edgar but he is right age and he is Edgar E. so I think it most likely he is the husband of Valda.
If you could get their marriage record or his death record from Iowa it may have his parents names on it.
