That's my point Andrew, you have lots of information on your lines but we don't know what specific records you need to further your research Once you have your basic essential information on your folks, you want to find them on all available census records. That should answer some of the questions you now have. Since at least three of the older children were enumerated as born in other states that should give you some clues. You should find your Mason family in Iowa with the 1870 census and working backward to at least 1840. Then you can start looking for those harder records prior to 1840. The 1856 Ia. state census indicates how long each family member has been a resident of the state. Dick
