Just a thought....
Carrie LANDIS d aft 1905. Possibly James SAMS d 1900-05.
Altho in their 60s, perhaps Joseph LANDIS marries Eva SAMS [Sr], and she dies bef 1910. This would render Joseph the stepfather of Minnie E MITCHELL.
This was the only scenario I could come up with to explain "father in law" on 1910 census.
I know Joseph d aft 1925, but don't know when James & Eva died. I didn't find any of these folks IA GRAVE REG.
