The Des Moines office forwarded the info to the NARA. If they said "deathdate unknown", you certainly aren't going to obtain any further info than what you have.
GOOGLE the name, and see if it's still a viable establishment, but I think you're beating a dead horse.

My g-gpa d 1886 MO, with my g-gma living in MO/WA/AR thereafter...the pension file went thru US Pension Agency in Topeka KS.

Why not try Lane Co OR for a death certificate? Or, it's possible she was with Alice & Lifie when they moved to AZ, but I don't know date of move [they were there by June 1900].

You have to explore all possibilities.

I had assumed Aurelius YOUNG d bef 1880, or Jane wouldn't be using the name POWERS.
