In Reply to: Crocker born in Iowa . Darrell - Eugene - Arnold around 1914 by Allan L. Crocker of 38285

1895 Black Hawk Co IA
CROCKER
Morris F 89 NY [I'm sure this should be 39]
Amanda P 32 MI
Milo F 9 CA
Eugene E CA [should be H]
Frankie A 4 CA

I can't find hide nor hair of Fred/Amanda after the 1905 MN census. In fact, I can't find any of this family 1910.
Do you have any data re: their d/dates, and location?

Hale is in IA by 1913, where he presumably m. Nellie BENSON, since your dad was b IA 9-3-1914.
Hale registered WWI Draft 6-15-1917 Floyd Co IA; wife/2ch.

It does appear that Amanda & "Canaket" are one in the same, as she and Fred. have been m 17yrs, and her age and bplace match Amanda's info. Where on earth did this name come from?!

I have checked CA DEATHS 1905-29...no Clay/Milo/Marlowe CROCKER listed, but feel he did d early, as no trace of him aft 1905. He didn't reg WWI Draft, and he would've been in the right age category.

There are 3 Frederick CROCKERs b abt the same time, residing NY 1860, but don't have a clue which one might be yours, if any. There is also a Fred. 24 NY in 1880 Stevens Co MN.

I'll assume you have the b & d/dates for Hale, Nellie, Darrell, Arnold, Eugene.

Do you know who Frankie married?

I have found Nellie's family, in case you don't have it.

9-11-1872 Albert M BENSON m. Lissie CARTER, Ogle Co IL Marriage Records

1900 Cerro Gordo IA
BENSON,
Albert M 49 b 5-1851 NY RI NY; m. 27 y

Nellie 15 3-1885 IA

Blanche 10 12-1889 IA [m. John SADLER]
Claude 7 5-1893 IA [m. Hazel PATTON]
Ruth 5 4-1895

Per 1880 Ogle IL census they also had:
Frederick b c 1876; m. Hattie V----k [couldn't make it out]
Bertie b c 1879 [son]

Albert's parents: William BENSON b RI; Amy A WEED b NY
Lizzie's [Elizabeth] parents: James PIPER b NY; Ruth CARTER b NY
[Don't know why Lizzie's marriage is listed by her mom's maiden name???]
This info is from the 1925 IA Census.

Did the CROCKERs and BENSONs possibly know each other in NY?
1910 There is a Chas CROCKER b 1833 NY in Rockford Twp, Floyd Co IA, same place as the BENSONs.

Is this possibly your Amanda?

1880 Black Hawk Co IA
KENNICOTT
James 53 NY NY NY, lung disease [1900 father b Scotland]
Prudence 45 PA VA NJ
Hattie 21 MI
**Amanda 17 MI
Eunice 16 MI
Virginia 12 IA
Rena 10 IA

James H KENNICOTT served CW...Co H, 24th MI Inf;
Prudence A. filed for pension 1912. Couldn't read date he filed, but looks like in the 80s.
If this is your guy, you should find his pension file interesting.
I'm not finding either one of them IA Grave Registrations.

Resided 1850 Watertown, Clinton MI; 1st wife...Harriett
Couldn't locate 1860

1870 Black Hawk IA
James/Prudence
Emma 15, Keziah E 12, Harriett 8, Polly A [Amanda] 7, Eunice 6, Cora 2, Carrie J 4/12..all b MI except for the last 2.
I sure don't know how they got "Virginia" from Cora, or "Rena" from Carrie, but the ages match.
Dad sure had his hands full....not a boy in the lot!! :-)

Maybe there's some info here to help you.
