I believe the Ellis Island records are much to late for your Dudley family. John Dudley listed his parents as born in Maine,in 1850, and he was born about 1791. Some library work may be required to find out his parentage. Are there any good public libraries near you? I found nothing to help on the Kennebec site on line, concerning a Dudley family.
