I thank you for the information. I have researched all the options you have given me a while ago and unfortunately Warner doesn't fit in any of those families. Everyone is accounted for in 1850. None of the possible father canidates were born in Vermont and the mothers in Massachusetts (three sources for this information).
The closest possible connection we could find is Samuel Marsh Jr., however, all his children are accounted for in the censuses and the wills. There were six other Marsh's in the tax rolls (not in the Federal or State Censuses) from 1826-1838 in Pomfret, Ellery & Busti but no idea what happened to them since we [my parents & I] checked the Chautauqua County NY land records and probate records for them in person at the court house to no avail. We have researched the three Marsh books as well.
Warner just seems to appear out of nowhere in the 1840 Federal Census for Pomfret Town in Chautauqua Co NY by himself with no land. He also states that he was in Iowa for ten years in the 1856 State census but he is not found in any 1850 Iowa Federal Census. I hope someone has some obscure information with a clue to this problem. Thanks again for your help.
