Hi Dick - I centainly appreciate your comments. Chalk it up to inexperience on my part. I have been searching for the whereabouts of Dorothea/Dora/Doris Thiemann Degener for more than 20 years. She was in Proviso, Cook County, Illinois in 1878 and then dropped out of site. She was married to Wilhelm Ludwig "Louis" Degener, a brother to my great grandfather, August Degener on 12 March 1875 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Proviso, Cook County, Illinois. She was born 19 September 1852 in Melzingen, Hannover to Heinrich Thiemann and Dorothea Ringmann, Rickmann, Rikemann. Doris and Louis were divorced in 1878 and then she dropped out of site. They had two children: Eduard Heinrich Karl Wilhelm Degener born 9 January 1876, baptized 30 January 1876 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Proviso and Emmeline Degener, born 27 March 1877, baptized 21 May 1877 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Proviso. I noticed a number of Thieman/Thiemann/Degener/Degner families in Buena Vista County. Even though Doris' name is incorrectly spelled Degner I do not find any connection to our family with the other Degner families. I notice that there is a burial in the cemetery with Doris of one Emeline Snyder born in 1877 -she may be the daughter, Emmeline Degener. I was in hopes that perhaps someone would have information about the Degener/Thiemann/Snyder families. Again, thank you for your comments and I promise to be more spacific in the future. Don
