I am researching my husband's great grandmother, Johanna Christina Andersdotter. I have the following information on her but would like to know her siblings and mothers name, her fathers name is Anders Nilsson. Johanna Christina Anderdotters is what she was known as in Sweden. She was from the Vadstena Parish in Östergötland born July 31, 1863. On May 31, 1889 she received her certificate of departure from Vadstena Parish for North America, and she acually left from Göteborg on 8 June 1889 with a destination to New York. Would that be Ellis Island arrival or some other port? Her name on the ship out of Göteborg was Hanna C. Anderson. I don't have the name of the ship but this is what I have been told. When she arrived in the U.S. her name changed to Hanna C. Nielson. Other records show her maiden name as Neilson and Nelson. Did she travel alone? It has been said by family members that she met cousins in Des Moines, Iowa but no one knows who they are. She married Carl Albert Odeen on October 4, 1890 in Des Moines, Iowa and bought a homestead in Geddes, Charles Mix County, South Dakota, U.S. Any leads would be very helpful. Thank you.
