The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, December 24, 1908 The venerable CYRUS SHORE, of Pleasant Township, died on Monday, after a lingering illness with a complication of ailments, the immediate cause of his death being cancer of the stomach. He was one of the earlier settlers in the county and had reached the age of almost 75 years. His life was exemplary and his natural goodness of heart and righteous manner of living had won for him the esteem and friendship of all with whom he had come in contact, thus in death he will be sadly missed He is survived by a son and two daughters, besides his wife. SHERMAN SHORE is his son and the daughters reside at Savannah, Ill. Believe Susan was his second wife, his son Sherman for the 1900 census shows mother born in Ohio. 1880 Census York, Carroll County, Illinois The wife of Cyrus is Mary Shore, born 1842, age 38, born in Ohio, parents born in Pennsylvania. They have one daughter listed, Ida Mae or Ida May, born in Iowa. Must have gone back and forth from Illinois and Iowa? Had a family with the surname Grim or Grimm living with them.
