The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa

MADISON PIERCY, of Union Township, died on the 12th inst., at the age of 65
years, his malady being cancer of the stomach. MR. PIERCY has been confined
to the house for six months past and the best skill of physician and nurses
was futile to relieve his intense suffering. He has been a resident of
Union Township for ten years past and his neighbors held him in high esteem
for his kindly deeds. The wife and five children mourn his demise.
Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church at Last Chance on
Saturday last by Rev. Van Horn of Des Moines, and the remains were buried in
the home cemetery.
