Willis:

Since records are difficult to find, after the 1930 census , I can't locate much about Darrell Grubb. I am not related , but looking for you, in the records I have available. Since the Social Security Death index, gives his last residence/ or place where his benefits were sent, was Marion County Iowa,at Knoxville. I checked the 1930 census to see about the Grubb family there. It would seem likely that his family would have a connection with that county.

1930 Marion Co. Iowa, Clay Twp. Dist 2 image 2
Clarence Grubb 54 widowed, b Ohio as were his parents
Abner son 20 Iowa
Helen 18 "
Mary 17
Martha 17 twins
Forrest S. 15
Mary J. Mother 74 wd b OH as were her parents

I could not locate the family in 1920, but in 1910 the mother of the children was Edith , and the eldest child was Clarence A (Abner) age 0 years. and they were in Mahaska County. Since there were only the 2 sons, Clarence Abner ans Forrest S. Grubb, they could well be, one of them the father of Darrell.

Forest S, was b 26 Mar 1915, died 23 Oct 1997 Des Moines Iowa, his ss# 482-01-1305 Social Secuity applications would be helpful in the case of Darrell, for they ask for the mothers maiden name as I recall when I filled out mine many years ago. His # was 481-54-0638, since he was also listed on teh California death records, we can see by that his mothers maiden name was Wilson. There may be an obituary in the Des Moines paper for Forest, which might give his family.
Clarence Abner Grubb is listed on the Rootsweb Obituary pages, birth place Oskaloosa Iowa, possibly died in Rockport Ill. his obituary would be located in the Belvedere Daily Republican on the Jun 27th 2000 edition.

In case this turns out to be the correct family, the following is from Ancestry family Trees:
Benjamin Franklin Grubb ,b 22 Feb 1850 Morgan Co. Ohio, son of Matthew Grubb and Lida ( ) , married Mary Jane Boileau, b May 5 1855, Morgan Co. Ohio, their eldest child Clarence was born 7 May 1875 Platsville Athens Co. Ohio, who married Edith Viola Stark, b 23 Jun 1888/1880?, died Nov 16 1918 Tracy Iowa. They marrried 23 Jan 1909 Toledo Iowa. Their children were:
Clarence Abner 10 Feb 1910
Helen 20 Nov 1911
Mary 10 Jan 1912
Martha 10 Jan 1912 twins
Forest 26 Mar 1915

( the full birth dates from , "The Decendants of Jacob Ludwick", throught the Stark family lineage.)

the 1880 census of Athens co. Ohio
the 1900 census of Mahaska co. Iowa for the Frank Grubb Family.

I did not answer your question , but perhaps this will help in the future. Howard boswell
