According to Joseph Duer Cowan's obituary in 1933, his brother John was alive and living in Iowa. I had decided that the John and Amy memtioned in the census were related to my husband's family but unless the date was incorrect the John that died in 1932 was not my husband's great uncle. I am fairly new at research and could easily make incorrect assumptions.
