Sharon,
I a have been researching the 1860 Census , and the 1870 Census of Winterset and all the townships. I look at the Murphy after you gave that information on Mary Murphy, and I found that the same information. But something else.
In the 1860 Census of Madison county, they had two Townships out of Winterset, They had some Wrights from Virginia. This is about the time William Wright went in the Civil War. I took each person on Family Search. The first one was an Eli Wright, and he had a father Skelton Wright. I saw a Shelden also on the 1860 census ( spelled with an H, and I didn't get anything ).I also saw a Joanna Wright, and a few other from Virginia. I put in Skelton Wright and I got him in in Indian Territary in Oaklahoma with Joanna Hembick, married at the Cherokee Indian Resevation. Ages matched. Remember William Wright was born in about 1841. I saw Joanna Wright in the 1880 Census in Madison Co, and her son was Eli Wright, born about 1854. I think he was was the brother of Willim Wright and some other Children. Look up Joanna Hembick, born about 1823 on World Connect and check it out. I think that William Wright was born in the Indian Territory where the Cherokee nation was at, and not in Virginia. I told you that James Wright, the person I was doing this family history for, said that William was part Cherokee, and part Irish.
