I am a decendant, great grandson, of Eli Denman who lived in Newport Twp, Johnson County, Iowa 1858--78. His children were Rebecca, b. 1/1/1858 in Wisconsin, Charles, b. 1860 in Iowa, Mary Cinerettie, b. 1860 in Iowa, U. S. Grant, b. 1865 in Iowa, Ellen, b. 1869 in Iowa, Eli J., b. 1872 in Johnson County, Iowa (my grandfather),Truman, b. 1875 in Iowa, Netta, b. 1877 in Iowa and may have been still born, Albert Garfield, b. 1879 in Kansas. Leona, b. 1884 in Kansas, and Washington, b. 1886 in Kansas. By this time his wife, Sarah Garey would have been 43 years old. I have no records of any births past that date. That Eli was apparently in the logging business both in Wisconsin and Iowa as he was listed as an engineer in a sawmill in Iowa. His first daughter was born in Polk County, Wisconsin which was a large logging center. I doubt that he is the one you are searching for. His early family came from Ohio. Good Luck.
