I have an Anna NOVAK, b. April 1874 who married ?? Zabokrtsky. Then later, ca 1908, married John BENISH. I also 2nd cousin who lived in Oxford, Iowa who married someone named NOVAK. In the Iowa 1920 census, Benton co. Florence Twp. is the family I am speaking of. John Benish and his wife Anna, both age 45 and born in Bohemia. Also living with them is John NOVAK, age 80, listed as the father in law. Also children, Vivian, Kenneth, and Ione.

There used to be a Children's county home in Iowa City. It was on Bowery and Gilbert streets down by the railroad tracks.
