Followup information on this "Folk" family... My Warren Folk (father of Amy, Oscar, Lora/Lara, William Warren & Stella/Violet) is apparently known by the name "Hiram S Folk" according to census data. Postcards from his daughter Lora had lead me to believe his name to be Warren. According to census records, Hiram & his wife Eliza Jane(?) lived in LaSalle County, IL in the 1880's; in Iroquois County, IL in the early 1900's, and later migrated to Humboldt County, Iowa. They had come to IL from Ohio sometime between 1866 & 1868. Approximate birth years are as follows: Hiram S. Folk 1837 Eliza J. Folk 1842 Oscar E. Folk 1866 Lara B. Folk 1868 Amy E. Folk 1869 William W. Folk 1871 Violet E. Folk 1875 Violet married William ADER in 1896; Oscar married Joan Lane in 1894; Amy married Edward Strobel in 1895 (my line); Lora married James/Jim Day (unsure of year, but it would be after 1900). Sometime in the early 1900's, Lora & her mother, Jane, lived in New Mexico. According to period postcards from Lora to her family, this is presumably because of Jane's poor health. If anyone is researching this family, I'd love to hear from you! Notify Administrator about this message?
