I know this is a long shot, but here is what I hope may make a connection:

I recently found 3 letters from Thomas DALE dated 1862 and 1893, and 1897 to Richard Preston Dale in Gosport NY.
.
The letter from 1862 appears to be from Vernon Springs, but no State. The names Betsy Ann and Hannah are mentioned in this letter as is a Wm. and Battle of Pittsburg.

The letter from 1893 appears to be from Cresco, but again no state. The name Martha is mentioned in this letter.

The letter from 1897 was in an envelope August 31, 1897, Cresco, Iowa. The letter mentions a Chas and Marion, and a Carrie married Wm Huntting.

Would like to hear from you if there is any connection to my DALE line.

Mike Dale
