I'm trying to substantiate whether or not my ggaunt Mary E. Mosher ((b. 1852/1854-Seward,Schoharie County,New York) was married to Daniel Walker Stanley, b. 21 Jan 1847, Salem, Henry County, Iowa, died 12 Jul 1916, Norton, Norton County, Kansas. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that they were married on 20 Oct 1872 in Iowa--although I am unsure of the county in which they married.
Daniel Walker Stanley was the son of Ansalem Stanley, b. 13 Jul 1817, Salem, Columbiana County, Ohio, d. 30 Oct 1905 in Salem, Henry County, Ohio and Phoebe Cook. Daniel had three siblings: Elizabeth A. (b. c. 1843), Joseph H. (b.c. 1845), and Mary (b. c. 1849). After Daniel's mother died, Ansalem remarried (to Hannah Ellyson). Together they had *10* children, bringing Ansalem's grand total of offspring to 15.
The 1885 Nebraska School Census for Wilber, Saline County, Nebraska, lists my great grandfather, M.J. MOSHER with his family. On a hunch, we searched the same census for his sister Mary MOSHER STANLEY and found that her husband's first name began with D. Their children were listed as:
1. Everett STANLEY (b. c. 1874, Iowa),
2. Mary STANLEY (b. c. 1880, Nebraska)--although there is some evidence to suggest that she may have been Phebe May STANLEY WATTLES (Born: 22 Oct 1878, Claytonia, Gage County, Nebraska, Died: 23 Oct 1967, Superior, Nebraska),
3. D. (Daniel?) N. (W.?) STANLEY (b. c. 1883, Nebraska),
4. Nancy STANLEY (b. c. 1884, Nebraska).
Can anybody substantiate whether or not I have the correct Stanley-Mosher union here?
Thanks a lot!!
