Hi Sharon,

I checked the marriage records for you and there is not an Elijah Richard marriage record, but I did find Mary E. Richard(24) married John S. Green in Henry County, Iowa with consent of father, Elijah Richard. They were married in New London, Henry County, Iowa License No. 735, Marriage Book B, page 71. So I did a little more research and found Elijah Ricord in the 1850 census, Green Township, Henry County, Iowa, page 274 with two daughters, Catherine G. 24, and Mary E. 21, both born in Virginia. There are also two Ramsey girls with them, Sarah, 14, b. Iowa and Kate, 15, b. AL. So my guess would be that Elijah and Nancy were married in Virginia, unless this was a second marriage. But there is not a marriage record for Elijah and Nancy Richard. Also, Elijah is listed in the 1860 census Index as being in New London, Henry County, Iowa, page 299. Hope I was of some help.
