Hi maybe you can help me or direct me to someone that can. I am researching the surname Kruse and it comes with quite a story that includes Henry County and possibly a Kruse Hardware store maybe around Hillsboro. The story passed on to me was that when my original Kruse family came from Germany (1854) one of the boys was quarantined in New York due to scarlett fever, the family waited a little while but finally said they couldn't wait any longer and left the boy, told him they were heading for Iowa(Scott County). The family never heard from him again and settled in Scott and Iowa County. But a Kruse relative of mine claims his grandpa was doing carpenter work around the Hillsboro, Mount Pleasant area somewhere between 1920-40 and needed some nails so he went to the hardware store and its was Kruse hardware. And supposedly it was a son or grandson of the Kruse that was quaruntined for scarlett fever. He had came to Iowa and was that close to his family(Iowa & Scott county) but never connected with them. If you could verify that there was even a Kruse store it would give me something to go on. I have tons of info on all the other Kruses from that family but nothing on this one, I believe his name may have been Heinrich. Thanks A Million! Jeff
