William A. Smith was born August 6, 1859 in Harrison Cnty., Iowa. He was the oldest child of my gguncle Jed Smith & his firstwife Mary Sellors Smith. Jed & Mary had two other children whose names were Henry, born about 1862 & Ezubah.
William Smith married Mary Annetta Mattocks who was born July 16, 1864 in Michigan or Minnesota. William & Mary had
the following children: Carol Smith, born Sept. 28, 1882 in Unionburgh, Harrison Cnty., Iowa and Roy A. Smith, born in
Persia, Harrison Cnty., Iowa.
Mary Annetta Smith died on March 9, 1890 and William Smith married a lady whose first name was Agnes. William Smith was bapized in the RLDS Church in Iowa on June 13, 1887, 5 years lated he was ordained a teacher, then to the office of elder. He spent many years as a full time missionary serving in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and other states. He died on Jan. 3, 1940 at Independence, Missouri.
His obituary says that he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Agnes Smith, two sons, one daughter, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, sisters & brothers.
Does anyone have any information regarding William A. Smith? I would love to find some of his descendents and am willing to share the information that I have on the family with others.
Thank you.
