My Dad had two brothers, Robert Near Simpson, (DOB 24thDec1915, Hardin, IA, DOD 20thApr1990, Hardin, IA), and Franklin J. Simpson, (DOB 17thFeb1928, Hardin, IA, DOD 15thApr1999, Bishop, CA).
The 1930 census of Hardin County, IA, shows them on Taylor Ave. in Iowa Falls.
Both brothers were later married. Uncle Bob had 2 sons with Aunt Anice N. Simpson (DOB 07th Sep1917, DOD 15th Mar1997, Union, Hardin, IA), Jerry and Steven.
My Uncle Frank moved to CA. I never met him. He (Married 18th Mar1971) may have had a child with Carolyn I. (Armstrong) Simpson, named Keith Simpson.
I believe my grandfather was Riley Leo Simpson, of Iowa. (DOB 2nd Sep1888, DOD 28th Nov1945) A WWI draft registration card indicates his home is in Eldora, Iowa. He (RLS), married in 1912??? or 1913 to Ellen Louise Near of Iowa.(DOB 3rd Jul1890, DOD 16th Oct1952), in Hardin County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Frank Near (NY), and Sara Jane Binges? (NY), who were married in Iowa. From the Hardin County, IA, 1990 Federal Census, I believe my grandfather had two brothers, Claude, (DOB Dec1891), and Ralph, (DOB Dec1895).
He (RLS), was the son of my great-grandfather, John Simpson, (DOB Dec 1862, DOD 1931, IL), of Iowa. Both his parents were from IL, His middle initial may have been “W” for “Wesley?”. In 1887, he married Eliza A. Wilson?, (DOB May 1862, NY). A listing of a Simpson Family plot in Union Cemetery, (Section 5, Row 8+9), Hardin Township, Hardin County, IA, was found thanks to Charlotte Mazurik. Also thanks to Dick Tague for leaning a hand.
I think my great-great-grandfather was named John Simpson (SC), he married __?_Williams. (Mary Simpson per 1880 Census.) He had seven children. Per the 1880 census, in his house there was John, 56; Mary, 48; Nathaniel, 21; Abram, 18; John, 17; Alice, 15; Edith, 13; Thomas, 11; and Viola, 8. Thanks to Dale Wilken in Iowa, for help with my info.
