Kelly & Sherlock ? Britt, Hancock Co, IA

  of 44

Patrick Joseph Kelly ( Pat Kelly told me his uncle Donald told him Patrick’s real name was Francis William, doesn’t know where he got this information.)
--Married to Mary E. Sherlock (Mary’s mother was a Murray. CA death index says she was born in IA (poss. Britt, Hancock Co.) but family says Ireland. Have ordered her death report from CA records, but haven’t gotten yet. Am hoping it will have additional details.)
--Children:
---Frank – his children are: Lester, Gordon, Donald & Bernice
---Charlie (never married, buried in St. Louis)
---Leonard (Spot)
---George (wife’s name Emma, Children: Elsie, Delores, Walter & Byron
---Clement
---William (wife may have been named Alice. I know they lived in CA during WW2 by letters from Arnold to his mother.)
---Theresa (husband was Frank Andrews)
---Irene (husband was Tom Cotton, children: Alice & Delores. They lived for a while in Delavan, MN. Have letter from Mary to my grandma Alice. She was living with them and getting ready to visit CA in 1941)
---Anna (husband was Chet Gamble, children: Dean, Maxine, Elanore, & Sonny. They lived in Iowa. Dean & Chet committed suicide in the 40’s.)
---Stephen (born: 2/28/1900, died 10/62. Married to Alice, questionable marriage to Lillian Phillips, married to Sadie Rodney. Children: Arnold, by Alice & Kelly Don Kelly, by Lillian. Was in the army stationed in Kansas City during 1941 according to letter to Alice from Arnold.)
---Greggory (wife’s name was Alice, children Sonny & Marie. I know they lived in CA during WW2 by letters from Arnold to his mother. Arnold and Marie were close. She visited him often at the base while he was stationed in CA.)

One of Arnold’s cousins was a POW during WW2, but not sure which one it was. I think some of the Kelly kids stayed in CA and some may have located in Washington state or Oregon.

Gordon told me that Patt and Mary lived in Harper’s Ferry IA as farmers and relocated to MN after a drought year. He also said Mary was a very devout Catholic.

Mom says Mary died while visiting kids in CA, was buried there and body was relocated to a family plot possibly in MN.
