Lemuel L. Cady, d. 1891 in Williams

I have Lemuel (or Lemual) Luverne (or LaVerne) CADY b. 1 Jun 1843 in Pennsylvania, married Fanny/Fannie/Frances EATON sometime after that (1859 - 1863, if he followed the customs of the age). He died in his blacksmith shop 15 April 1891 in Williams, Hamilton, Iowa. I'm assuming he is buried there.

I'd like to know who his parents were. I inherited a 17-page memoir from his grand-daughter, who moved to the Sand Hills country of Nebraska in the 1890's. She lived in a sod house, went to a one-room school house and killed rattlesnakes with a stick. Her CADY line and mine were not as close as we first thought. I'd be happy to pass on a copy of the memoir to anyone who is interested, as a text file.

She writes:

My father's parents, Lemuel Luverne Cady and Fannie Eaton Cady, homesteaded 1/2 mile north of Williams, and my mother's parents, Jason Baldwin Miller and Eliza Jane Leek Miller, bought a farm 1/2 mile east of Williams. So they attended the same school in Williams...

...Grandfather L. L. Cady was a blacksmith by trade and ran a shop in Williams, Iowa, while living on the farm 1/2 mile north. My father learned the trade from his father while a boy and worked in the shop with him. He (L. L. Cady) died April 15, 1891 from a heart attack while standing in the door of his shop watching a dogfight in the street. Sad day!
