Nancee, I had ancestors in Greene Co., IA, and I can tell you that the public library in Jefferson, IA, houses the materials for the genealogy society. I was pleasantly surprised at how much information they had when I was there about two years ago. I'm sure they could help you.

Their website has burial records from the WPA, and lists a William Chambers buried at Rippey. They note that there are no dates on the headstone, but that he was a Civil War veteran. I'm sure the library could provide obituaries for you.
